Big Weekend!

The wonderful folks at PetSmart Charities are holding their National Adoption Weekend this weekend, May 4, 5 & 6, and we are going to be at PetSmart Kingston...with more Gently Used Cats and low adoption fees! Tell all your friends...join us this Friday, Saturday and Sunday as we continue our quest to give these gorgeous, loving cats a forever home. Cats like Olive, Darla and Katelin. We are also working to find homes for some wonderful dogs like Annie, Lilly and Muffin. L&A OSPCA will be at Petsmart in Kingston through the weekend with our animals and are looking forward to finding you the right friend and them the right home.

By the way, did you know that PetSmart Charities hold this Adoption weekend at all PetSmart stores in Canada, the U.S. and Puerto Rico? That’s more than 1200 stores. Did you know that they have helped nearly 5 million animals find their forever homes since 1994?

We are proud to be one of their Adoption partners and we hope you will visit us and adopt this weekend.

  Challenge Accepted?

Our Challenge to you is the OSPCA’s "Friends For Life!" Walk-a-thon on June 3rd, 2012: to call out to your co-workers, friends, colleagues or competitors to join us as an individual or as a team.

Relying on all of us to pick up this Challenge are the neglected, abandoned, abused animals right here in our community that the Napanee Branch of the OSPCA shelters and finds homes for each year. Animals like Binx, who is our "Spokes-animal" for this year’s walk. (You can see more about Binx on the Walk-a-thon website)

So we hope you will circle June 3rd on your calendars, register yourself or your team for the walk and then challenge your co-workers, your friends, your industry competitors or suppliers to register as well.

Challenge them to a little friendly competition; there are prizes to be won, and the day itself will be great...fresh air, fun, meeting new people, good food and a worthwhile cause. If you work in a store, bank, factory, law office, library, fire station, garage, car dealership; if you stack groceries, babysit, style hair, raise cattle, anything at all: challenge your competitors or colleagues.

You can walk, run, ride your bike, in-line skate, push a stroller or walk your dog (or any pet you like). You can hop, skip or jump. Proceeds go towards rescuing, rehabilitating, and re-homing animals. Walk with a pet or without one...you don’t even have to have a pet to get involved...just a willingness to help.

  Yard Sale Soon!

It’s not too far away now! The L&A OSPCA Yard Sale will be on the weekend of June 9 & 10. We are getting ready, and you can too...it’s time to start thinking about your attic, garage, basement, bedrooms etc...those quality items you can part with. More details on delivery, collection and needed items to follow soon. Please do not drop off anything just yet...we don’t have space...yet.   Birthday Helpers

Sisters Elena and Carys have their birthdays quite close together...Elena will be 7 on May 6th and Carys turned 5 on April 2nd. They celebrated together with a big Birthday party...and they decided to celebrate by helping the animals! They asked for donations instead of gifts and raised $175.00 and this wonderful pile of food and treats for the animals at our shelter! They dropped by the shelter to deliver it all on Wednesday, April 25th, met some of the cats, dogs, kittens and rabbits.

We are so thrilled by their kindness and generosity and the animals are very pleased too.

So to Elena and Carys...THANK YOU SO MUCH from all of us...with purrs, meows, woofs and kisses!

  Collecting Recyclable Aluminum

Why not help out the shelter and lighten your recycle box? We accept aluminum pop cans, beer cans, aluminum pet food cans, aluminum pie plates, the aluminum food containers from things like take-out food and Meals on Wheels, and even aluminum foil.

All of these items must be rinsed out.

They can be dropped off just inside the door at the shelter, 156 Richmond Blvd. in Napanee. Or, if you have a biggish bag of items, just pop it inside the fence beside the trailer. Every tin, every little bit helps!

About Us

Every single day animals arrive at the Ontario SPCA Lennox & Addington Branch needing our help. We feed, exercise, bathe, socialize, play with and provide comfort to these abused, neglected and abandoned animals. We drive the wounded and sick to the veterinarian, change bandages, administer medications and monitor their recovery - with the goal of finding each animal a loving home.

Last year hundreds of animals were adopted from the Lennox & Addington Branch Adoption Centre including cats and dogs of all ages, shapes, sizes and breeds, as well as birds, rabbits, guinea pigs and more!

We invite you to drop by the shelter during adoption hours to visit the animals, or browse our site and view our adoptable animals online.
